Road signs, and clip art, are available and accessible methods of communications. The concept behind this assignment is to develop an understanding of:
- How art concepts function in public spaces
- What type of language is appropriate for these spaces
- What types of permissions are needed to display in these venues
- What type of controversy to expect
Assignment:
- Google Search “Art Road Signs”
- Pick a common road sign shape, Cut shape out of wood the actual size.
- Design a clip art image that operates as an artwork in a public space.
- Paint the sign in colors of your choice.
- Mount the sign on a portable pole.
- Display in a specific location on campus and monitor responses.
