Portable Public Art

Prehistoric portable art included small mobile pieces that could be carried from place to place.     Though the game hunted for food was a recurring subject within portable art, the over 10,000 pieces that have been discovered exhibit a great diversity in terms of scale, subject, use, date of creation, and media. Originally seen as less important than the cave paintings that also marked prehistoric art, portable art was thought to be merely preceding sketches or plans to be developed in later, larger parietal, or permanent, art. Over the years, however, the study of portable art has come into its own as archaeologists realize much information about prehistoric culture, livelihood, and societal structure can be gathered from these works or art.  (wikipedia)

Dawn - Global Secrets
"In today's day, everyone is always with their heads down texting. So, I decided to make a mobile texting devise of my own - for the world. It is funny how many people will text "secrets" to specific people and their "secrets" always tend to get forwarded to the world and into infinity. So my portable device just lets it all hang out but in a way more obvious."

The Happy Camper is the real definition of a Happy Camper.  The Happy Camper is a functional portable public art piece designed to bring smiles to peoples faces as it tours around the country.  The piece itself can be used for happy people and families to tote around happy objects to various functions and happenings and is guaranteed to put a smile on someones face and increase the overall vibe and energy of a certain surrounding or situation to a happy vibrant happening.  Every soul can benefit having a Happy Camper in their life.

 Kelsey - Close

My work titled Close comments on the complexity of human relationships by exploring the duality of the word close. While developing my idea I considered the natural desire to be close but at the same time closed off in order to shelter oneself.
